Washington, D.C. — Democratic Rep. Wesley Bell defended his vote against reopening the government by claiming that “SNAP recipients overwhelmingly told him” they were thrilled to miss essential services just so he could make a political point, sources have confirmed.
Staffers, however, later clarified Bell was entirely alone during this supposed outpouring of support — enthusiastically talking to a plastic cactus he believed was “one of his constituents.”
According to aides, the congressman nodded solemnly at the plant before announcing, “See? They get me. They understand the importance of my gesture.”
Bell insisted that keeping the government closed was “symbolic leadership,” adding, “Sometimes the point is bigger than the services people rely on.”
He reportedly made this declaration while adjusting the lighting around a portrait of his hero Chuck Schumer.
Policy analysts noted that Bell’s logic is consistent with his approach to expanded Obamacare subsidies — a policy expected to deliver minimal help to working families but significant windfalls to large insurance companies.
Critics argued this once again proves that the modern left isn’t fighting for the people, but rather their people — the donors, consultants, and corporate backers quietly padding their influence.
As of press time, Bell was seen asking his office door whether it agreed with his shutdown strategy, claiming it offered “far more practical feedback than real Democratic policy meetings.”

Think the man lost his cookies and heading for a nervous breakdown!
Everyone on government assistance should have to reapply and prove Beyond the reasonable doubt that the deserve taxpayers money. And prove why the can’t get a job. Most of these people are making more money than people retired on social security and payed into their S/S retirement accounts for over 40 to 50 years worth of benefits. Social Security retirees are getting screwed the most and are losing everything the worked their whole lives for. And these people are collecting taxpayer funds just because they don’t want to work and are just lazy and why get a job when the government pays me so much money not to go to work. Lots of you kids are getting checks of thousands of dollars every month and food stamps and are on free medicaid and Medicare this is unacceptable that our government has continued these benefits without a time limit some of the are also getting unemployment benefits and never ever worked a day in their life. These programs of benefits need to be for the most vulnerable needy people not for a bunch of lazy people. People on retirement social security worked their entire lives and are getting peanuts compared to young lazy people. This isn’t right.
One person is getting eight thousand dollars a month and she’s driving a new Mercedes this is pathetic that nobody checks on where our money is being wasted.
