Today We Remember

Today, we put the jokes aside.

Twenty-five years ago, on September 11, 2001, 2,977 people were killed in the terrorist attacks that changed America forever.

We remember the people who went to work, boarded flights, reported for duty, or simply started an ordinary morning and never made it home.

We remember the firefighters, police officers, paramedics, service members, and everyday Americans who ran toward danger to help complete strangers.

We remember the families who lost husbands, wives, parents, children, brothers, sisters, friends, and coworkers.

And we remember what followed.

For all the anger, fear, and grief of that day, Americans also showed extraordinary courage, sacrifice, and unity.

This publication spends most days making fun of politics, culture, government, and the absurdity surrounding all of us.

Today is different.

No satire. No sides. No jokes.

Just respect for those we lost, gratitude for those who answered the call, and remembrance of a day our country should never allow to fade into history.

September 11, 2001.

We remember.

We honor.

We will never forget.

Thank you for all the smiles, subtle head shakes, and eyebrows lifted at all the surrounding absurdities of these times. Thank you for bringing tears to my eyes so early this morning.

To this day, I still can’t imagine the hate in the hearts of the people who carried out these terrorist acts! And the people who planned it, as this was not something that just happened. Cowards who hid out in tunnels in mountains in far away countries. Countries who cheered the acts in the streets. I will never forget! And I will never forgive their acts of Terrorism.

Today is a solemn day for all of us, thank you for honoring the people that died in this tragedy. And also the people that died being exposed to the toxic fumes. One of my friends her husband was a policeman that helped clean up the remains of that horrible day he later died from a rare cancer. I pray for all the loved ones left behind as well thank you.
