1969: Vietnam Draft Lottery Voted Least Popular Game Show in Television History

The show’s negative reception disappointed network executives, who’d hoped for better feedback from viewers after the program had debuted to such incredibly high ratings. Rumors of a reboot have circulated for years, with none coming to fruition yet.

A stupid idea, never heard of the show and I lived through those years. I was in college wondering and waiting for my low lottery number to be called as well as most of the 18 year old’s in my class. The remainder of guys in my classes were returning Vietnam veterans, about a dozen only 3 or 4 years old than me. I talked with them all, heard the stories, anxious to find out what life was like over there. Some would joke about it, other calmly talk about it, a few didn’t want to discuss it at all. All of them liked President Nixon because he was the only one looking out for them, always drawing down the number of troops in Vietnam from the day he was sworn it. It was the Libtard Dems in Congress back home, Viet Cong Communist sympathizers who put restrictions on how the troops could and couldn’t fight. As one vet told me “We’d be sitting in camp near the Cambodian border while Viet Cong rockets supplied by China would fly over the border from Cambodia, blow up a tent or two killing a few guys, but we were not permitted to fire back. When Nixon over rode Congress and ordered one month bombing of the Viet Cong hiding in Cambodia, that was the best thing that helped us from being killed.”

This is a satire site and, obviously, makes fun of even serious things at times. Best not to view it as 100% fact to keep from being triggered. I love the site and I think the author “Joe King” is one of the best plays on words I’ve seen in a long while. We all need to laugh in order to keep our sanity, or at least some of it, in these chaotic, dark and trying times. Cheers to Joe King!!

I agree with you. I was in the Cambodian invasion with the 2nd 8th Calvary in Recon. Was stationed in Tay Ninh and we would get attacked and do nothing when they crossed back into Cambodia. O n our return 35 days later we found a underground city on the border over 2 football fields long with food and ammo for 2 years. If that was manned they could of wiped out a Battalion. Nixon was for the troops. We kicked their butts in Cambodia and then we gave South Vietnam back to the North Vietnam ese.
Anothe disater by the Dems was Afganistán. Twice we left all our tanks and possesions to the Cong

It was a useless war. And I want to thank you ALL for your service. And may all the ones that did not make it home. May they all RIP. And I want to apologize for the way you were all treated when you came home

Thank you Herb. This site is obviously about current, and past, events being looked at from a light and sardonic viewpoint. Lighten up people.

I was drafted in HS 1971. I was I think designated 1H. If I remember right my number was in the 200s, but that is not what they went by, for example #221 would correspond with the 9th group to be drafted. I was also in a band during HS and we were the house band at Concord Naval Weapons Enlisted Mens Club in 71-72. Every Marine told me “do not join”
