QUEENS, NY — U.S. Open officials reportedly unveiled an exciting new immersive fan experience this week after spectators discovered they could watch world-class tennis while simultaneously smelling marijuana and human waste, sources have confirmed.

Tournament organizers are calling it:

SHIT HAPPENS.

Fans initially complained.

Then everyone started laughing because apparently there comes a point when your $300 tennis ticket smells like a porta-potty behind a dispensary and anger simply becomes acceptance.

One father covered his son’s nose.

“Is somebody smoking weed?”

“Yes.”

“What’s the other smell?”

“New York.”

Officials quickly reassured guests that the odor wasn’t a facilities problem.

It was atmosphere.

“We wanted fans to experience every part of the city,” explained one fictional spokesman.

“The sights. The sounds. The culture. Whatever is happening near Section 310.”

Hospitality teams immediately began distributing souvenir nose plugs reading:

BREATHE RESPONSIBLY.

Court attendants were also instructed to stop saying “Love-Fifteen” and begin matches with:

First serve. Last clean breath.

Luxury box holders complained they weren’t getting the complete experience, so organizers reportedly pumped artificial sewer vapor upstairs for an additional $175.

Meanwhile, one player stopped mid-serve, sniffed the air, and asked whether someone could do something.

An official shrugged.

“Which smell?”

Nobody had an answer.

By evening, spectators were taking selfies while pinching their noses, laughing uncontrollably and embracing New York’s newest civic philosophy:

Traffic happens.

Rent happens.

Weed happens.

And apparently…

shit happens.

As of press time, the U.S. Open gift shop had sold out of commemorative air fresheners before the quarterfinals.
