Mayor Karen Bass has embarked on an African safari as L.A. battles record wildfires, sources have confirmed.
The trip, described by her office as a “fact-finding mission” to study natural firebreak techniques in the savannah, coincides inconveniently with the city’s urgent need for leadership as flames engulf the hills.
The Mayor, who reportedly mistook the term ‘fire season’ for a travel theme, has been posting updates from a luxury lodge in Botswana. “Learning so much about wildlife management here!” she tweeted, alongside a photo of herself in a safari hat, binoculars in hand, seemingly oblivious to the irony as her city back home faces a wildlife of a very different kind.
Critics have labeled the trip tone-deaf, suggesting that the only thing she’s likely to bring back is a nice tan and perhaps a newfound expertise in elephant behavior—not exactly what the fire department needs. Supporters, however, defend her, claiming that she’s just taking a proactive approach to global leadership.
As of press time, Mayor Bass had just liked a tweet about the importance of staying hydrated, while back in L.A., firefighters were wishing she’d send a little more water their way.
Learning about fire abatement procedures? Like the methods they laughed at Trump for suggesting? Or the cutting fire department budget and sending equipment to Ukraine type of methods?
In fairness to their dumbassery, the fire equipment that was transported to Ukraine DIDN’T receive peanuts or even a complimentary soft drink.
