In what Governor Gavin Newsom called “a historic leap toward inclusive democracy,” California officials have confirmed that under Prop 50, residents can now fill out mail-in ballots for friends, neighbors, and anyone or anything that “needs their voice heard,” sources have confirmed.
The move, which supporters describe as “the UberPool of voting,” allows voters to “share the ballot experience” with anyone within a 10-mile emotional radius.
Newsom, grinning under studio lighting that could power a small Tesla, toasted the reform as “a model for modern democracy — and a great opportunity to expand voter turnout to include your yoga instructor.”
Critics have pointed out that ballots are already surfacing with signatures like “The Entire City of Santa Ana” and “Your Best Friends Mom,” though state officials insist it’s all “within the spirit of California’s new community-based voting ecosystem.”
Newsom brushed off questions, saying, “I trust Californians to know what’s best — even if they didn’t technically fill it out themselves.”
As of press time, Newsom was seen celebrating the success of Prop 50 by mailing a congratulatory ballot to himself, his reflection, and three emotional support squirrels, who are also proud voters.
