New York City progressives reportedly sounded an emergency alarm this week after Michael Rapaport became “alarmingly viable” by praising police, criticizing crime, and declining to apologize for it, sources have confirmed.
According to insiders, socialist Democrats close to Mayor Zohran Mamdani grew concerned when Rapaport criticized City Hall without blaming capitalism, colonialism, or Republicans in a follow-up statement.
“He spoke in complete sentences and didn’t issue a disclaimer,” one aide allegedly said. “That’s reckless.”
Party strategists say Rapaport’s refusal to perform ritual apologies or describe New York as an irredeemable dystopia confused voters accustomed to vibes-based governance. “He keeps acting like the city should work,” a consultant complained. “That’s not the platform.”
Panic reportedly escalated when Rapaport praised law enforcement without immediately calling for their abolition.
One internal memo allegedly labeled him “dangerously electable” after polls showed voters responding positively to ideas like public safety and accountability.
Mamdani allies attempted damage control by explaining that crime statistics are merely “capitalist narratives,” but Rapaport undermined the effort by saying people “just want to feel safe,” a remark activists described as “extreme right-wing messaging.”
Republicans reportedly watched quietly as Democrats debated whether enjoying New York disqualifies someone from running it.
As of press time, progressives announced plans to stop Rapaport by accusing him of liking things too much.
