In what could be dubbed the ultimate Capitol sleepover standoff, Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez expressed her fury at Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer for his outrageous desire to sleep in his own bed this Friday instead of barricading himself in the Capitol to shut down the government, sources have confirmed.
AOC criticized Schumer’s “lack of commitment to the cause,” lamenting on Twitter that “some of us are ready to camp out in the Rotunda with sleeping bags if that’s what it takes!”
Schumer, spotted yawning amid a marathon legislative session, allegedly quipped to his colleagues that he prefers the cliffhangers on his beloved soap opera over the chaos of a government shutdown. “How about we schedule the shutdown for next week?” he joked, casting hopeful glances towards a peaceful weekend.
The disagreement highlights the generational divide within the party, with younger members favoring dramatic all-nighters and older ones preferring the comforts of home post-8 PM.
As of press time, AOC was seen distributing ‘Occupy the Capitol’ flyers while Schumer was caught googling ‘quickest ways to sneak out of the Senate unnoticed.’
