CONCORD, NH — New Hampshire Democrat Ellen Read reportedly argued that police had no constitutional authority to stop her after an alleged 107 mph speeding incident, further clarifying that the Founding Fathers explicitly intended elected officials to travel at “whatever speed feels emotionally correct” while en route to invent new rules for everyone else.
Read allegedly denied going 107 mph, insisting the radar gun must have been faulty, politically motivated, hacked by extremists, or possibly tracking a nearby bald eagle engaged in what she described as “high-velocity authoritarianism.”
“I may have been going 85,” Read reportedly said, while gesturing vaguely at the horizon.
“But that was on a highway, which everyone knows is basically America’s permission slip. Also, time is a social construct, and I was ahead of it. And just because my name is Read doesn’t mean I need to read signs.”
Witnesses claim Read attempted to cite several amendments on the spot, including what she referred to as “the 28th Amendment:
Thou Shalt Not Interrupt A Legislator In Motion,” which she said was ratified “spiritually, if not technically.”
The dispute quickly escalated into a bodycam battle after Read complained that the sheriff’s office does not require deputies to wear cameras, mostly because the department cannot afford them.
Read reportedly suggested that without video evidence, it was impossible to prove she wasn’t actually traveling at a “symbolic speed” meant to represent progress.
Critics noted Read serves in a position where lawmakers could help fund local law enforcement needs, though that would require acknowledging police as useful before needing footage from them to win an argument.
“This is bigger than speeding,” said one aide, while unfolding a chart labeled “Velocity Equity.”
“This is about democracy, accountability, and whether elected officials should be bound by the same arbitrary numbers printed on signs for civilians who aren’t actively shaping history.”
After the state Supreme Court declined to hear the case, Read was said to be deeply offended that her historic race against time had not been treated as a constitutional emergency, reportedly calling it “a missed opportunity for jurisprudence to finally catch up with me.”
As of press time, Read had introduced a sweeping transportation reform bill redefining all speed limits as “guidelines,” granting lawmakers diplomatic immunity from traffic laws, and requiring all road signs to include the phrase “unless you’re important, late, or feeling particularly visionary.”

In other words this Reid woman thinks it laws for thee but not for me . How typical of a Democrat !
“Antisocial” behavior. I would expect nothing less from the left.
It’s their “go to” narrative over taking responsibility for ones’ actions.
I do know of a guy who did got out of one of these though…
But they took responsibility !
A cop pulled them over and asked if there was any reason they were going 87 in a 65 ?
They explained that they had been called out to fly an all night flight back from the other coast.
Their wife had lent them her new car and at what ever speed they were at it felt like what 65 felt like in their old truck, but that they should have been paying more attention to the speedometer ! The cop said, oh, your a pilot, well then 87 miles an hour ain’t noth’n copared to what your used ta do’n ! And all was forgiven !
I’m just curious about why you used they, their in your reply when you already said “a guy”. Why not just write he/his /him?
Really ? In that story, the propounds are what you’re curious about ?!
I don’t know ? Maybe the character in the story is bisexual or bipolar or has a split or multiple personality disorder ? Maybe I just forgot my test would be graded ?
Either way, I guess they, their were just “my chosen pronouns !”
Thanks, Catherine, ( why not Cathy ) you made my day ! 👍🤣🥃
God help us! Stupidity is a danger to society.
Don’t be surprised at this, politicians on both sides, Democrat or GOP all develop a sense of entitlement, like they’re American royalty. Almost weekly, we hear examples of financial fraud, tax evasion, and sexual perversion amongst our elected officials, and that’s only what gets leaked out from the protective “curtain” set up by their colleagues. It’s surprising this legislator was stopped at all, unless New Hampshire doesn’t issue vanity license plates to its legislators indicating their voting district and identifying them as privileged.
I challenge anyone to name an elected official that is totally above board and not a sleaze in one way or another.
This is why or government needs to be dismantled because there are too many entitled corrupt politicians that think they are above the law and rules these assholes right and try to enforce on everyone else except themselves. These people need to be fired immediately and sent directly to jail and all there right removed and prosecuted. They all think they are above the law and rules everyone else has to follow.
