NEW YORK — A New York City DSA co-chair reportedly defended government-run grocery stores this week by explaining that any private grocery store bankrupted by taxpayer-funded competition “maybe shouldn’t have existed,” causing small business owners to briefly wonder whether socialism is just organized shoplifting with better slogans, sources have confirmed.
The comments came during a DSA meeting titled How To Save The Working Class By Destroying Their Employers, where activists unveiled a bold new grocery plan involving government shelves, government prices, government managers, government losses, and private citizens paying for all of it.
“This is about fairness,” said one DSA organizer while sipping a $12 locally sourced oat latte.
“If your family-owned store can’t compete with a government-backed money pit that never has to turn a profit, that’s capitalism’s fault.”
Critics noted the same activists who claim to oppose powerful institutions now want the government to control food access, prices, inventory, hiring, wages, distribution, checkout lanes, and eventually whether shoppers are morally approved to buy name-brand cereal.
When asked which socialist countries had successfully done this, members reportedly named Sweden, Norway, Denmark, IKEA, a farmer’s market in Brooklyn, and one podcast episode about vibes.
Sources say DSA officials insisted they do not want to take anything away from people, except their businesses, choices, profits, independence, and ability to buy groceries without a committee.
As of press time, the group had unveiled its official motto: “Don’t do what we do, fund what we say.”
Wow! This is an extreme right wing propagandist cartoon. There are grocery store deserts that force people to travel long distances to buy food. If working people are struggling to buy food and pay rent, that is a miserable failure of the government/capitalist system. If the tax payer gives billions in tax subsidies to rich, and 60% of all taxes go to the Pentagon that has never passed an audit, then stop picking on the little guy like they are the problem, they’re not.

These deserts exist because of crime. Eliminate the crime — the shoplifting, the looting, the street violence , and the just nasty street life in your neighborhood, the stores will come back

I saw this guy on Fox, he said his parents fled capitalistic oppression by the US in Peru, but they came here? The senate is unfair because it gives voice to less populated states. The president and Supreme Court should be selected by Congress. Finally, it is unconstitutional for landlords to make more than 9% on their investments!

I have worked in Cuba and Venezuela in the past and it broke my heart to see the people in suits grabbing food off of a garbage truck. NY deserves everything that happens to them and we Americans are not going to bail them out when they go broke!!!

I have worked in many countries. In one of the socialist countries they, the company I was assisting, “allowed” me to have something to drink “If they thought I was working hard enough”. Then when I was coming home, they had the state police remove me from my seat on the airliner. The company had decided that I should stay under their control for a few more days.
Then they begged me to come back. Seems that nobody else would go to their country to help them.
Here in USSC, unitedsocialist statecalifornia, many of the wealthy, and many business owners are leaving. They do not think that because they work hard, provide thousands of jobs, goods, products that the state should rob them and give their money to those that refuse to work.
