WASHINGTON, D.C. — Across the country today, Americans paused the noise, lowered the flags, and remembered the men and women who gave their lives in service to the United States, sources have confirmed.
While Memorial Day has become known for cookouts, sales, long weekends, and the unofficial start of summer, millions of families still understand what the day actually means.
It is not about mattress discounts.
It is not about an extra day off.
It is about the fallen.
It is about the soldiers, sailors, airmen, Marines, and guardians who left home wearing the uniform of a free nation and never came back.
Their sacrifice is the reason Americans can argue loudly, worship freely, raise families, criticize the government, build businesses, fly the flag, and live under a Constitution that still stands because brave people were willing to defend it.
In small towns, big cities, cemeteries, churches, and front yards, Americans honored them the way they should be honored: with gratitude, humility, and pride.
There is nothing wrong with gathering with family today.
In fact, that is part of what they died to protect.
But before the grill fires up and the day moves on, every American should take a moment to remember the cost of freedom.
As of press time, Americans everywhere are celebrating the lives of those who gave everything so the rest of us could live free.

Well said !
I hope all had a happy, healthy, honoring day of remembrance for all of those
who have given their ultimate so that the rest of us can continue to live free !
