California’s latest “reform” has created a new kind of absurd theater on the streets, sources have confirmed.
Under Governor Gavin Newsom’s mandate, police officers must now patrol barefaced while criminals are free to strut around in full ski-mask chic, as if auditioning for a remake of Home Alone.
Local sheriffs warn the policy is putting their officers at risk, but Newsom insists it’s about “equity” and “comfort” for criminals.
“It’s intimidating when ICE shows up in balaclavas,” Newsom declared, “but when gang members wear them during a carjacking, that’s just cultural expression.”
Adding to the comedy, the only officers allowed to keep masks are California’s own state troopers.
Critics are calling it the “Super Troopers Exception,” since apparently the guys writing speeding tickets on I-5 can still dress like tactical ninjas, while ICE has to look like they’re headed to a PTA meeting.
Residents say the results are surreal.
Officers, stripped of anonymity, are now being heckled by name while off-duty grocery shopping, as criminals smugly pose for mugshots like masked influencers.
One eyewitness reported, “It was like Comic-Con meets COPS. The burglar wore a Spider-Man balaclava. The cop wore nothing but a name tag.”
As of press time, California was considering a taxpayer-funded program to provide matching masks to felons so they “feel seen” when resisting arrest.
