CNN sparked confusion this week after briefly airing a tribute package for actor Michael J. Fox despite the minor detail that he is still alive, prompting network executives to defend the segment as “forward-looking journalism,” sources have confirmed
According to insiders, the network rushed the piece to air after determining it was better to be early than risk missing the opportunity entirely.
“We pride ourselves on being ahead of the story,” one producer explained.
“Sometimes that means getting there before reality does.”
Fox later responded with humor, reportedly assuring fans he was fine while privately wondering if he had accidentally hit 88 miles per hour and skipped ahead to his own memorial coverage.
“I’ve seen this before,” Fox allegedly joked.
“Great Scott, I guess I’m trending in the future again.”
Sources say the mistake was quickly reframed internally as a success, with staff praising the segment’s emotional tone, fact-optional scripting, and ability to generate clicks without the burden of confirmation.
One anchor reportedly noted, “If we waited for facts, we’d never break anything.”
Critics pointed out the irony of a network known for lecturing others on misinformation now experimenting with what they described as “fiction-adjacent reporting.”
Meanwhile, Fox fans expressed relief, confirming the actor remains very much alive and not currently starring in a retrospective.
As of press time, CNN was reportedly preparing a tribute package for several other living celebrities “just in case.”

Sorry, but I don’t see the humor in this. This would be a forgivable error if they had taken responsibility for it and apologized, but they’re acting like it’s all cute and making excuses. What if someone close to him had heard that? Needless pain and sorrow, not to mention possible health problems or auto accidents on hearing that news. We’re supposed to be able to trust the news. Of course, CNN lost that trust long ago
this happened because today’s media obviously operates on rumor and innuendo. No fact checking & anonymous sources are “good enough” today. The FCC really needs to step in with harsh penalties.
Not really funny; just demonstrative…
Yet another reason why NOT to watch CNN -the home of useless babble.
In court, if a jury catches a witness in a lie, they are aloud to disregard everything the witness said…
I don’t see any reason why CNN should be treated differently !
In court, if a witness is cought lying, they can and should be charged with perjury, and fined heavily and sent to prison! We are so use to the dems lying and no one challenging them or prosecuting them. I think a lie should constitute immediate dismissal from their office, and a hearty fine. If they were ALL drug tested, on a regular and pop basis, we could stop all this other, stupid, sick behavior.
Positive drug test means dismissal and loss of half their assets. The test would of course be charged to them. Is there no moral or ethical clause in holding a federal job?
WHAT IS PRESIDENT TRUMP SAY…. “ CNN IS FAKE NEWS ALWAYS HAS BEEN AND ALWAYS WILL BE “ !!!!
