LOS ANGELES — Mayor Karen Bass reportedly blamed President Trump for a reported increase in L.A. homelessness this week, marking the 800th time a Democrat-run city discovered a local disaster and immediately mailed the invoice to Mar-a-Lago, sources have confirmed.
The comments came after reports that homelessness in Los Angeles had increased year over year, despite Bass also noting that unsheltered homelessness is still down about 11 percent since 2023, which city officials described as “good news, bad news, and somehow still Trump’s fault.”
“This has nothing to do with years of local policy, failed programs, drug abuse, fraud, broken systems, or billions of dollars vanishing into nonprofit fog machines,” said one Bass aide.
“This is obviously because President Trump woke up this morning ”
City Hall reportedly unveiled a new homelessness response plan consisting of three steps: blame Trump, request more funding, and form another task force to determine why the last task force needed a task force.
When asked whether Los Angeles might examine its own spending, enforcement policies, service failures, or bureaucratic maze, officials said they were open to accountability as soon as they found a version that blamed Republicans.
Local residents said they were confused by the math, the messaging, and the smell.
As of press time, Bass had announced a bold new initiative to reduce homelessness by 2028, provided Trump, climate change, capitalism, and several problematic sidewalks stop interfering with her press conferences.
If it isn’t Trump’s fault, it’s climate change. Or the Jews. Or maybe it’s capitalism.
