NEW YORK — The hosts of The View were reportedly thrown into emotional crisis this week after Darline Graham was appointed the first female senator in South Carolina history, only for the panel to discover the milestone had not been packaged in the exact ideological wrapping paper they prefer, sources have confirmed.
The appointment came after Graham’s brother passed away, a tragic detail the panel briefly acknowledged before immediately returning to the more important issue: whether they could still complain about it.
“This is the very definition of DEI,” Joy Behar declared, before producers gently reminded her that the entire point of DEI commentary is apparently to support historic firsts unless the wrong people are involved.
Sunny Hostin objected because Graham had been appointed rather than elected, which confused viewers who remembered Democrats have supported appointments, replacements, emergency substitutions, backroom swaps, and political musical chairs whenever those things helped Democrats.
“She may be qualified,” one producer whispered, “but does she come with the correct label?”
Sources say the panel grew increasingly frustrated after realizing they could not decide whether to celebrate a woman making history, criticize the process, invoke DEI, reject DEI, blame Republicans, or ask someone to bring out a makeup brush and a fresh reason to be offended.
As of press time, The View had clarified that historic firsts are empowering, unless they happen without permission from four daytime television hosts and a laminated grievance chart.
