SANTA CRUZ, CA —
In a move perfectly timed for Halloween, scholars at the University of California, Santa Cruz declared that capitalism — not vampires, zombies, or werewolves — is “the most terrifying monster humanity has ever unleashed,” sources have confirmed.
At this year’s Festival of Monsters, attendees dressed as Dracula, the Creature from the Black Lagoon, and one confused student wearing a Starbucks apron all gathered for a panel titled “Brains Are a Social Construct.”
Speakers argued that Wall Street brokers are “modern zombies,” driven by “insatiable hunger for higher profits and financial security”
One professor called capitalism “a walking corpse that refuses to die, even after multiple stimulus checks.”
Another warned students to “beware of the suburban vampire known as the homeowner.”
The festival ended with a candlelight vigil for “souls devoured by productivity,” followed by a group seance to “raise the minimum wage through collective spiritual energy.”
Meanwhile, President Trump and GOP leaders marked Halloween by giving out candy corn labeled “Trickle-Down Treats.”
Gov. Gavin Newsom appeared in a clown mask and claimed to be shocked so many recognized him — until one GOP aide replied, “That’s not even a costume, just a little less makeup and hair gel.”
As of press time, students were demanding trigger warnings for candy corn, citing its “unregulated capitalist color scheme and unequal stripe distribution.”
