NEW YORK — House Democrat Hakeem Jeffries reportedly accused President Trump of ruining the Knicks’ first NBA Finals game in 27 years after NBA Commissioner Adam Silver and Mayor Zohran Mamdani recognized Trump as a dedicated lifelong Knicks fan, sources have confirmed.
Witnesses say Jeffries became visibly shaken after learning Trump had been acknowledged without first passing through the official Democratic Emotional Permission Desk.
“This was supposed to be about New York, basketball, and my carefully filtered courtside face,” Jeffries said while adjusting a Knicks selfie that made him look 19 years younger and possibly generated by Pixar.
“Instead, Trump showed up and acted like a natural fan. That’s dangerous.”
Jeffries reportedly accused Trump of stealing the spotlight by clapping, smiling, and knowing where Madison Square Garden is without needing a staff memo.
“This is classic Trump,” Jeffries continued.
“He inserts himself into everything, including cities he’s from, teams he’s watched, and arenas where people already know him.”
Mamdani attempted to calm Jeffries by explaining that Trump’s Knicks fandom appeared organic, which only made things worse.
Jeffries then demanded an investigation into whether Trump’s applause was coordinated by Russia, Ticketmaster, or “the far-right concept of enjoying sports.”
As of press time, Jeffries had blamed the Knicks’ missed free throws, high ticket prices, arena nachos, and his own over-edited selfie on Trump, before calling for a congressional hearing titled No One Is Allowed To Have Fun If The President Is Also There.
