Obama Center Contractors Reportedly Begin Dismantling Presidential Center After Learning Hope And Change Don’t Clear Invoices

CHICAGO — Contractors working on the Obama Presidential Center reportedly began making contingency plans this week after learning they were still owed millions and the promised taxpayer-protection safety net had not been funded, sources have confirmed.

Workers said they became suspicious when the foundation’s payment plan consisted mostly of inspirational speeches, commemorative tote bags, and a framed photo of Obama pointing into the middle distance.

“We were told this project was about legacy,” said one contractor while labeling sections of decorative trim.

Rather than immediately walking off the job, crews reportedly developed a phased strategy that starts with nonessential fixtures and gradually escalates until payments begin clearing.

The center quickly unveiled a new interactive exhibit called You Didn’t Build That, But Please Don’t Take It Apart, where visitors watch electricians eye the wiring while a docent explains that the $470 million safety net is “present in spirit.”

Obama officials insisted everything is fine, noting the missing safety net is currently being funded through hope, change, and the same accounting method used to explain Obamacare savings.

Chicago leaders praised the project as a historic achievement in Democratic economics: hire contractors, promise safeguards, delay payment, and call the bailout “community investment.”

By noon, workers had reportedly tagged several conference rooms, two elevators, and the gift shop for possible future removal if outstanding invoices remained unpaid.
