In a twist that even the most devoted Star Wars fan couldn’t have predicted, Disney has announced plans to convert its much-hyped Star Wars hotel into office space for its stay-at-home employees, sources have confirmed.
The Galactic Starcruiser, originally designed to provide guests with an immersive interstellar experience, will now host Zoom meetings and virtual team-building exercises.
The decision comes as Disney aims to adapt to the new normal of remote work while still capitalizing on its sizable investment in the themed hotel. “Why let a perfectly good starship sit idle when it can be orbiting the corporate world?” quipped one Disney executive during the announcement.
Employees are expected to report for duty in full Star Wars attire, with team leaders dressed as admirals and interns as droids. Conference rooms have been renamed in honor of various Star Wars locations, with the largest boardroom now known as the Death Star Debrief Room.
The move has sparked a mix of excitement and confusion among employees, some of whom have already begun practicing their Wookiee roars for customer service calls.
As of press time, a group of accountants was seen trying to fit a replica Millennium Falcon through the office doors.
I didn’t know there was such a thing. Looks cool.
