The National Football League announced its further expansion this morning, announcing that next year will see the first ever professional football game played on the moon, sources confirm.

“It’s the logical next step,” said NFL commissioner Roger Goodell. “We’ve been promoting our product across South America and Europe for a while now, and we’ve made some exciting breakthroughs in space travel and anti-gravity footballs that I think will make for a pretty exciting game next year. Stay tuned for more details!”

NFL fans largely met the announcement with limited enthusiasm.

“What do I care where they play the game?” asked local NFL fan Bryce Wallace. “As long as it’s not on at some weird time, I’ll probably check it out. Wait, who’s playing? Ugh, the Jaguars and the Giants? Eh. Maybe I’ll skip it.”

As of press time, the NFL announced that the losing team would have to stay on the moon.

The moon has 1/6 of gravity of earth. Then you have to factor the pressure suit stiffness, and loss of range of motion. The correct average field goal kick would be 82.6 meters. Now, if the stadium is built in a pressurized crater, all the calculations have to have new values plugged in.

Very few injuries when a normal hit sends the ball carrier in orbit around the moon

Antarctica is pissed that, once again, it has been overlooked.

How long will this bias be perpetuated?
