As NFL teams prepare for their 2024 campaign, one punter reportedly wasn’t sure how he should be spending the long hours on the practice field.
“I guess I’ll just keep punting,” said Steve Lewis, the first-year pro drafted by the Carolina Panthers this year. “No one’s really talking to me out here, and they’re doing some pretty complicated drills over there. I don’t think that’s anything I need to be concerned with. I walked over to ask if I should be doing anything, and someone chucked a football at my head. Based on how the coaches were laughing, I don’t think they have anything for me to do right now.”
Coaching staff confirmed Lewis’ claim that they didn’t have an itinerary for the punter during the long months of training camp.
“Steve Lewis?” asked Panthers head coach Dave Canales. “Never heard of him. You sure he plays for us? Well if he does, I guess he should probably just practice kicking balls all day. I don’t know. The guy makes six figures to boot the pigskin three or four times a week. What the hell does he want from me? Leave me alone, and we’ll call you when we need you.”
As of press time, Lewis had punted a few balls and moseyed into the locker room to play on his phone and get ready for his upcoming fantasy football draft.
That is crazy. A punter is an important player. Staff should have more professionalism!

Every player needs to feel as a part of the team, NOT apart from the team!! Shane on the coaches! Suppose there was a play for faking a punt and throwing tge ball, or running with the ball for a first down. How about a hand off, or a fake hand off to another player to throw or run with the ball. The coaches need to make every player an integeal part of the team, right dow to the waterboys, etc.
I guess if he doesnt know what to do, just punt it😁

Screw the NFL I haven’t watched one game ever since Kaepernick was hired by San Francisco and I probably never will watch a game again. There are a bunch of losers and they’re all overpaid for what they do.
