NFL Bans Hip Drop Tackle, Makes Gambling Mandatory

The National Football League announced some controversial new rules for the upcoming 2024-2025 season today, including a ban on a dangerous style of tackle and the implementation of mandatory gambling for all viewers, sources have confirmed.

“Big changes coming to the game next year,” said NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell earlier today. “First of all, we’re banning the hip-drop tackle that has caused far too many injuries in recent years. This is a dangerous move that we’ve seen grow popular over the last few years, and we’ll now penalize any defensive players that grab onto a player’s hips and leave their feet to make a tackle. It’s for the health of our players, and the integrity of the game.”

“Also, you have to wager on the game you’re watching or else it will be blacked out on your television,” he added, citing a new partnership with FanDuel, DraftKings, Caeser’s Sportsbook, and all major broadcasters.

The enforced mandatory gambling caused controversy among fans of the sport.

“This hardly seems right,” said local NFL fan Charles Mayfield. “I thought it was bad enough that sports betting infiltrated the presentation of every major sport within a few years like wildfire, but now they’re making me bet on games? This feels like a huge problem that is almost certainly going to create a generation of gambling addicts. Plus, I live in Texas, and sports book gambling isn’t even legal here yet. What the hell am I supposed to do here?”

As of press time, the NFL also announced that fans could now wager on how long it would be until tackling was outlawed altogether.

I can’t believe that the NFL is so arrogant to think we can’t live without them

Eliminate the hip drop tackle and you will see even more injuries. The runner will actually be held in a standing position and will be subject to taking more hits by other defensive players to get him down.
