WASHINGTON, D.C. — Progressive lawmakers and several SNAP recipients filed a lawsuit this week challenging new federal restrictions on purchasing junk food with food stamps, warning the policy could lead to the unthinkable: constituents becoming healthier, sources have confirmed.
The lawsuit comes as federal officials push a “Make America Healthy Again” initiative that would limit the use of SNAP benefits for items such as soda, candy, and other ultra-processed snacks.
Left-leaning activists immediately sounded the alarm.
“If our constituents suddenly start eating vegetables, how are we supposed to justify billions in healthcare funding?” asked one concerned policy advisor.
“You can’t run a proper government program if everyone’s blood pressure improves.”
Under the new restrictions, SNAP recipients would reportedly be encouraged to purchase basic groceries such as meat, fruit, and vegetables — a shocking development critics say could devastate the nation’s soda aisle.
One progressive organizer warned the policy could trigger a “dangerous chain reaction.”
“First people start eating actual food,” the activist explained.
“Then they start exercising. Next thing you know they’re asking questions about where their tax money goes.”
Meanwhile, several members of Congress reportedly convened an emergency meeting to discuss how to maintain the long-standing partnership between federal nutrition programs and the snack-food industrial complex.
A spokesperson for the group filing the lawsuit argued the restrictions unfairly stigmatize junk food.
“Candy bars are part of our culture,” the spokesperson said.
“They’re basically vegetables with better branding.”
As of press time, several lawmakers were reportedly scrambling to introduce new legislation requiring at least three government-subsidized sodas per household to protect the national snack economy.

Love your spin!
LOL from written presentation but sad because so true. Was behind two couples, who were shopping together. Their grocery cart was filled to the brim with all sorts of food that I won’t buy for my family or meat I can’t afford to buy. The final total was over $500, but the couple wasn’t concerned. They pulled out government cards with a (s) to pay. Cashier told me earlier not uncommon and earlier person had over $700 worth of food in cart paid for by government — called American workers. Cashier was disgusted and working because she needed money to pay her bills as a retired, senior-citizen. BTW, those with cards were under 23, healthy looking enough to work, and seemed to speak English just fine!
About time the changed the policy. When I was young we were on food stamps. The actual stamps books. We were limited on what we could buy. No chips, soda, candy. They for food for family.
If the lazy jerks would get a job they could buy their junk food why do the working people have to pay for it. Senior citizens have to be careful what they spend on groceries and it’s so frustrating to see healthy people on food stamps and we have to pinch pennies
I certainly don’t mind helping someone buy food for a family that’s going through hard times, but I sure don’t want my tax money going to buy soda pop, potato chips, ice cream, etc.
