NEW YORK — One of the newest rising voices in the socialist movement, Chevalier, reportedly stunned Democratic Socialists of America members this week after proudly identifying Sweden and Norway as socialist countries, forcing the group to pause its revolution long enough to locate a basic economics textbook, sources have confirmed.
The confusion began during a DSA strategy meeting titled Countries We Pretend To Understand, where Chevalier allegedly pointed to Scandinavia on a map and declared, “See? Socialism works. They have healthcare, snow, and emotionally unavailable furniture.”
The room briefly applauded before one intern whispered that Sweden and Norway both have market economies, private property, billionaires, corporations, and enough capitalism to make Bernie Sanders nervously adjust his mittens.
“That can’t be true,” Chevalier reportedly responded.
“They have trains and maternity leave. That’s literally Marx.”
DSA officials immediately formed an Emergency Scandinavian Rebranding Committee to determine whether countries can still be called socialist if they allow businesses to exist, people to own things, and IKEA to make a profit selling $9 meatballs and particleboard.
One activist suggested the group pivot to Venezuela, but the idea was rejected after someone accidentally checked how that turned out.
By midday, Chevalier had reportedly updated the definition of socialism to mean “any country with taxes, clean streets, or vibes.”
As of press time, DSA members had announced a new education campaign explaining that real socialism has never been tried, except in every country they point to before being corrected.
People and kids are getting more stupid each day. Public schools have failed to teach the subjects but rather be an activist. Socialism DOES NOT work you idiots!!!

I am an American married to a Swede. I have been travelling to Sweden for 50 years .
Sweden has free enterprise and a capitalist based economy with many wealthy millionaires.
They do not have government run grocery stores or free transportation . Yes they have a single payer government sponsored healthcare system, but they have 10 million citizens, half as many residents than we have in Los Angeles .
These DSA policies makers are young and ignorant .
No one should listen to them because they do not know what they are talking about. And by the way my wife who was a nurse in America will open say that the healthcare system in America for all its flaws is superior to the single payer system in Sweden that services 10 million .
These countries have the kind of socialism that most people in the US want. Being a Democratic socialist country does not mean the government owns businesses. What is happening with the Trump administration is that business (big business only ) owns the government . They dont mind the government buying in as long as they are in charge.. Socialism for the billianaires…dog eat dog for everybody else. Democratic Socialism is basically a government of the people , by the people & for the people…Social security is socialism, national parks are socialism ( now the billionaires want control of public lands along with everything else). Other examples would be affordable health care for all by replacing insurance companies with our own government…medicare for all…

Big Business meddling in the government is not specific to the Trump administrations. I’m far more concerned about the teachers’ unions paying the democrats to dismantle the american education system. All you have to do is look at the completely ignorant nepo babies who never worked a day in their lives calling themselves socialists, to know how successful that has been. Someone who can’t even spell billionaire is unlikely to ever become one on their own merit. There’s nothing democratic about socialism.
